Our Mission and Our Lodge
Masonry is the world’s first and largest fraternal organization. It is guided by the enduring belief that each man has a responsibility to make the world a better place. For 300 years, Freemasonry has enhanced and strengthened the character of individual men by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, and the search for truth – within ourselves and the larger world.
When the miners arrived in the Amador gold country they brought with them Masonic support and fellowship. Starting in Volcano in 1853, Masonry expanded to Jackson and then Sutter Creek with the same commitment to the purpose and values. Fellowship, support, and charity still exist here as Free and Accepted Masons celebrate their 300th anniversary of Masonry. Our lodges are rooted in history, but still adhere to the same Masonic values and virtues which are still relevant in contemporary society.
